Conspiracy case (1) Where the investigation ordered a total of 17 people as suspects

Detained under 10 articles of Tunisia’s penal code – including article 72, which prescribes the death penalty for attempting to “substitute the state” – and more than 12 articles of the 2000 anti-terrorism law

President Saeed described the detainees as “terrorists” and accused them of plotting to undermine the state and manipulate food prices to stir up social tension, in videotaped statements published on February 14 on his official Facebook page.

CTS questioned him about the station’s finances, its editorial line, and the identity of the people making the editorial decisions. A judge from the economic and financial judicial pole ordered Boutar to be detained pending investigation, without immediately specifying the charges against him. On November 18, 2022, President Saied complained, while speaking to a reporter at Radio Mosaique, that the station had become a platform for people accusing him of dictatorship (Amnesty).
